There she is (we love to refer to the mountain as a big mama)… soar from the sea, from the air or from the ground her presence can be felt every day that we spend in Pantelleria…
The mountain of Pantelleria, 836 meters above sea level, as known as Montagna Grande is covered in its entirety by pine trees, aleppo pines, giant heather and gorse bushes spread all over.
Researchers say that most of her “construction” is due to lava that flowed from the many vents that after the collapse of the great caldera had undertaken to fill the gap left. Its height is now greatly reduced due to collapses that have succeeded in the past millennia. Today, the mountain looks decidedly in a form more “relaxed” destination for many hikers who travel along the many trails and enjoy the wonderful views that range in all directions. Beautiful in all seasons, lush and generous, ideal for long and refreshing walks on foot or by bike with sea view always guaranteed.
